| Gandalf: A wizard who helps out in the quest to destroy the ring. He is a very wise and stern wizard. Gandalf wares the ring Narya which has a stone as red as fire upon it. He bears the sword Glamadring. And has a staff that he uses some of his special powers out of. Gandalf is a great wizard and is called Gandalf the White in The Two Towers and The Return of the King. He is in every book including The Hobbit. Gandalf is also called by some hobbits "The disturber of the peace."Ringwraiths: They are kings enslaved to the Ring. And try to take the ring from Frodo. They work for themselves eccept they don't disobey Sauron. They are in every book accept The Hobbit. Thorin Oakenshield: Is called The King Under the Mountain. He is a dwarf in The Hobbit which the other dwarves and Bilbo look up to. He goes on an adventure to get rid of the worm Smaug from the Lonely Mountain and to reclaim the gold the dragon (worm) stole. Thorin bears the sword Ocirist and is a good friend of Gandalf. Thorin is only in The Hobbit. Bilbo Baggins: Bilbo is a hobbit who goes on a quest to reclaim a lot of gold from a dragon named Smaug. On the adventure Bilbo finds the One ring in the Goblins Cave (he meets gollum there). Bilbo received the weapon Sting in the Trolls hole where the trolls kept there treasure and weapons. Bilbo is mentioned in every book. Frodo is Bilbo's heir and Frodo is Bilbo's favorite cousin. Other dwarves in The Hobbit: There are twelve other dwarves in the hobbit who go with Thorin on the quest to reclaim their gold. Thier names are Gloin, Dwallin, Balin, Fili, Kili, Bombur, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, and Bofur. Samwise Gamgee: A companion of Frodo on the quest to destroy the ring. Sam has an occupation as a gardener. Later he becomes Mayor of Hobbiton. He has a dagger as a weapon. He's very alert to things especially when Gollumn is his guide. He stays by Master Frodo's side even if it means letting go Bill (his pony). Sam appears in every book accept The Hobbit. Frodo Baggins: He goes by the name of Mr. Underhill when away from the Shire. He bears the blade Sting for it was given to him from Bilbo in Rivendell. Frodo is given the ring by Bilbo and is then called the Ring Bearer. He has a great friend named Sam. Frodo goes on a quest with nine others to destroy the One Ring. Frodo is in every book accept The Hobbit. Legolas: Is an elf that uses a bow as his weapon. He comes from Mirkwood. And is a Greenleaf type of elf. He has great eyesight, which lets him have good aim when shooting an arrow. He knows much about other elves and there liking of dwarves. Himself and Gimli are good friends. He has more agility than some others of the Fellowship. He is strong in battle. And he has keener eyesight than any of the others in the fellowship. He is in every book accept The Hobbit. Gimli: Is Gloin's son. He bears an axe as his weapon. He is a stern but wise dwarf. He does not like to be treated rudely by elves. And he knows a little bit more about Moria than the others in the Fellowship accept for Gandalf. He's very powerful when using his axe in battle and he hates orcs. He is in every book eccept for The Hobbit. Aragon: He is a ranger who joins Frodo and his three friends before anyone else does in the Fellowship. Aragon is a guide to the hobbits and knows what to do around Black riders (Ringwraiths). He plays a big part in the Return of the King. Aragon has a sword as his weapon and he is a good friend with Gandalf. He is a great warrior and he proves himself a warrior in battle. He is a healer also. He is in every book accept The Hobbit. Pippin: Pippin is a hobbit who doesn't know as much about the ring than Merry does. He is a good friend of Merry, Frodo, and Sam. He uses a dagger as his weapon. He stands by Gandalfs side in The Two Towers. Pippin is in every book accept The Hobbit. Beron: Is a man who is good friends with animals and raises bees as big as a thumb. He can change his shape so he looks like a bear. And when he is a bear it comes in handy in the battle of The Five Armies. He is mentioned in the Fellowship of The Ring and is in The Hobbit. Merry: He knows more about the ring than Pippin does for he saw the ring when Biblo used it to turn himself invisible. Merry treats king Theadon as a father to him and loves him dearly. Merry is good friends with all his companions. He is in every book accept The Hobbit. King Theadon: Is a king who was under a dark spell from Wormtongue. But Gandalf revives him of it and Wormtongue is then kicked out of the service of King Theadon. King Theadon is a good friend with Merry. And is a wise King who he tries to defeat the Witch King of the Nazgul. He is in the books The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Borimir: Is a man who is in the quest to destroy the ring. He thought it would be okay to use the ring as a tool to help them defeat Sauron. Later in The Fellowship of the Ring the Ring tempts him and he tries to take it from Frodo. He uses a sword as his weapon and is a strong man and taller than Aragon. Borimir is only in The Fellowship of the Ring and he is in the Two Towers just a little bit of it. Sauron: Is The Dark Lord who created the One Ring. He knew how to you use it for it only obeyed him. But the ring did get lost from The Dark Lord for his finger, which held the ring was cut off and the ring was taken from him. He also is known as A Great Eye ever watching. He is in all books even though not mentioned in The Hobbit. Saruman: Saruman the Wise, Saruman the Ring-Maker, Saruman of Many Colors he called himself. He is a wizard who used to be Saruman the White (the best rank of a wizard). He was good but then he started to build armies for Sauron. He also used to be friends with Gandalf and the Ents but he then became there enemy. He later in The Return of the King becomes a beggar with his servant Wormtongue. He is in all the books accept The Hobbit. Wormtongue: Is a servant of Saruman. Wormtounge used to be King Theadon's squire but he put a spell on King Theadon and Gandalf revived Theadon of his spell. Since Wormtongue had done this King Theadon threw him out of the kingdom. Wormtongue is in The Two Towers and The Return of The King. The One Ring: Is only controlled by Sauron himself. It tempts whoever wields it to use it for evil. Or it makes the bearer feel a weight on his chest or in his pocket (Other wise known as a burden). The Ring is dangerous if on the finger of Sauron. It is in every book. Galadriel: She bears the ring Nenya, the ring of Adamat. She was asked to have the one ring but she eventually refused it and said, "I've passed the test." She has a mirror that is called the Mirror of Galadriel. It shows things to Frodo and Sam what they are not worried about and it shows them things they are worried about. She is also called the Lady of the Wood. She is mentioned in every book accept The Hobbit. Eomer: A follower of King Theadon and a brave warrior. He is one of the Riders of Rhoan. If King Theadon dies Eomer will become The Lord of Mark. He is in The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Farimir: Becomes the Steward of the King in The Return of the King. He was also known as a ranger. He captures Frodo and Sam and Golumn in The Two Towers. Smaug: A dragon that took over the Lonely Mountain and took the entire dwarf's gold that had been stolen from them. He is evil but wise and loves gold more than anything else. They also call Smaug a worm, which means dragon. Smaug is only in The Hobbit. Orcs and goblins: They are twisted elves that work for the Dark Lord Sauron. They are in every book. Trolls: Are kind of stupid beasts that are twisted ents. They are in every book. Wargs: Wargs are like wolves that work with the goblins by letting them ride themselves. They fight with the goblins in the Battle of the Five Armies. They are in The Hobbit. Eowyn: Is anther woman who likes Aragon and she is close to King Theadon she is treated like she is his daughter. She is in the books The Two Towers and The Return of the King Wild Men: They do not like orcs. And they live near Godor. They help The Riders of Rohan in The Return of the King as a guide to Gondor. Arawen: Is the daughter of Elrond. She loves Aragon. She is a fair lady and is very kind. She is in every book accept The Hobbit. Elrond: Is a wise ELf who is a friend of Gandalf's and Galadriel's. He wears the ring Vilya mightiest of the three rings; it has a clear blue stone on top of it. In the Fellowship he commands the waves to overtake the Ringwraiths and Gandalf makes the waves look interesting. He is and elder at Rivendell and controls all lakes around it. He has a daughter named Arawen. He is in every book. Olephant: Are beasts like elephants but more aggressive and are only mentioned The Two Towers. Sam is amazed to see them and thinks about all the tales of wild Olephants back at the shire and how no one will believe him of seeing one. An Olephant is bigger than a house and is a very brutal creature you wouldn't want to get in their way. |
